Branson Missouri Museums
Titanic: The Legend Continues
Branson
visitors to the Titanic Museum can explore the mysteries of the ill-fated ocean
liner, which sank in 1912 after striking an iceberg in the Atlantic Ocean. The
Titanic Museum is home to more than 400 artifacts from the Titanic. Items
include deck chairs, jewelry, dinnerware, life jackets, menus, personal letters,
more than 100 photographs taken by passengers and much more. The artifacts in
the Branson museum were taken off the Titanic by passengers and crew
members or were found floating in the debris field. There are hands-on
activities for youths, including a refrigerated iceberg they can touch. Visitors
also can try sending SOS telegrams or steer the ship around icebergs using new
computer imaging, he said. Every effort has been made to be respectful to
the Titanic and the many lives were lost. The museum is located at the corner of
Hwy. 76 and 165.

Veterans Memorial Museum
Fred
Hoppe Jr., designed, funded and built this Museum. His vision: "Honoring Those
Who Served". He collected and then wrote the scripts for over 2000 rare military
artifacts he donated to the Museum. This Museum was made with the same heartfelt
compassion and gratefulness thousands of people around the world wanted to
express. Greeting you out front is a full-size World War II P-51 Mustang fighter
plane. Inside you will find exhibits from all the wars of the 20th century
including World War I & II, Korea, Vietnam, Desert Storm and Bosnia. The museum
is filled with hundreds of exhibits and murals honoring all branches of military
services, campaigns, major battlefields, industrial defense and the enduring
support of the American people. The hallmark of the museum is the world's
largest war memorial sculpture created by Fred Hoppe. It is a 70 foot long, 15
ton bronze sculpture, consisting of 50 life-size soldiers storming a beach. Each
figure is modeled after an actual WWII combat veteran, one from each of the 50
states. Names of the men and women who died during the wars line each of the 5
great halls including the names of the over 500,000 U.S. soldiers who were
killed in action in WWII. Touring the museum is a powerful, emotional
experience.
